“It is my intention to show consumers that it is possible to produce beautiful designs using reclaimed fabrics and materials. The business name Magic Pumpkins & Faery Dust embraces this idea to the full, with a bit of faery dust it is possible to turn a pumpkin into a beautiful carriage fit for a princess or in my case by applying creativity and imagination a discarded jumper can be transformed into faery tale baby shoes, hair clips and pixie slippers.

 

All toys are made from fair trade organic cotton and organic sheep fleece and felt, all dyes are either plant based or non-toxic and eco-friendly. Magic Pumpkins & Faery Dust is trying to have as small an impact on the environment as possible and to produce eco-friendly goods.

Most of the packaging is made using recyled materials – they might not look “pretty”, but help towards reducing waste.

Our own material scraps are used to make smaller objects eg hair slides and all "rubbish" is recycled.

 

Being children in the 1970’s, my sister and I didn’t have game boys, there were only one or two weekly kids TV programs and a video recorder was unheard of. Our imagination and creativity formed the basis of our play. Even on a rainy day, we couldn't slump in front of the telly, but a bit of fabric would inspire us to invent a new story line, which we would build on for weeks to come.

 

My wish is to bring some of this heavenly simplicity back to our children and to introduce them to toys made from natural materials, using simple designs to feed their imagination and spark their creativity.”
